Through this website I wish I can share many my creative passions with You – and hopefully inspire You to find what You love to create – what ever it might be.

Hi, I’m Sonja

I’m so glad you’re here!

I believe that creativity brings both joy and beauty to our lives and homes. My hope is that these pages can inspire you, give you new ideas for your own creative projects, help you find more information about products you’re looking for, or perhaps just provide a lovely moment of reading over a cup of coffee, dreaming in the corner of the sofa… just as I love to do myself. A cup of coffee and House & Garden magazine = That’s me

About Me

I am an Interior Designer (SI) and the founder of House Of Wallebeck.

My style is classic and timeless, with a modern twist. Project management and creative direction are my strengths – I know how to combine efficiency and innovation in the creative process. I have a strong eye for color, the ability to see a space’s potential, and a knack for solving problems practically. In my design work, I also strive to consider holistic well-being – interior design isn’t just about beauty; it can truly support the flow of everyday life and peace of mind.

In addition to interior design, my work over the years has involved experience in construction, event planning, visual merchandising and coordination, floral design, and landscape design. I have led international film crews and collaborated with brands, gaining extensive practical experience over the years in how to create a beautiful and functional whole from a space or product that makes people stop and take notice.

In all my projects, I strive to create a beautiful and timeless atmosphere while always respecting the client’s wishes.

I love people, classic architecture, art, long walks in the woods, S’mores by the campfire – and of course, my little family, my husband and our two sons, with whom I share life’s adventures.

On weekdays, you’ll usually find me in muddy boots and work clothes at construction sites or with my hands in the dirt – in my own garden or someone else’s – planning and planting. Sometimes, occasionally, you might also see me in suits or party dresses – I like those too. Like right here – Right now. ♥

How it all started

So let’s go back in time a bit… to where it all began.

The roots of my creativity go back to my childhood. I grew up in the countryside in a large farmhouse renovated by my parents, where creativity was allowed to flow freely. I followed my mother in the garden before I could even walk properly – I saw how she spent her free time tending to our vast garden, growing flowers, painting pictures, and how much joy it gave her. That’s where my own love for interior design, nature, colors, and beauty was born. I learned early on to look for different solutions for my room’s decor – often without anything ready-made, just using creativity, doing it myself, experimenting, inventing solutions from little, and transforming the ordinary into something special.

Later, I also discovered my interest in event planning and styling. I especially enjoyed setting large dinner tables and decorating for parties when family and friends gathered together. There I also learned hospitality and understood how much joy an Open Home and an Open Heart can bring; I’ve carried this idea with me into my own home. Shared joy is double the joy. Some of the loveliest moments are when I get to cook for a large group and the house fills with the sounds of life – the more the merrier.

As you may have noticed, you could almost say I love design and all things creative – whether it’s building houses, designing rooms, projects – big or small, baking delicious (and oh-so-challenging) gluten-free treats, growing cut flowers, arranging wedding bouquets, or building beautiful ensembles. I learned the joy of work early on and to appreciate the work process – when I get to take on a challenge – solving it, working hard to bring joy to others and myself. I always want to live with the attitude of learning something new every day.

Where it all comes from

We have moved several times during our life together. In fact, my first business experience was born somewhat by chance during a move, when we moved from our beloved Finnish home toward Norway, to a beautiful old country manor, Villa Wallebeck, in 2013. In the midst of renovating and building, I realized how much I enjoyed design. The home turned out to be the perfect place to experiment and realize creativity in all areas.

From these Villa Wallebeck building experiences, the Wallebeck Interior Design studio and the Wallebeck Baby & Child brand were eventually born. The company has grown, changed, and evolved alongside our lives, moving with us through all its stages. Today, House of Wallebeck is a company and a concept where I can combine my expertise and my passion.

Over the years, we have realized and built many of our visions together – houses I’ve designed, each of which has been part of the journey and the learning. Sometimes they have been permanent homes, other times intermediate stages on a journey that still continues, story by story, project by project.

The Journey Continues

I want to warmly welcome you to follow the building stories of House of Wallebeck – to experience with us all the adventures
the journey brings.

Through these pages, I want to share pieces of all this with you. Here you will find my own favorite finds and tips for building, interior design, gardens, home styling, and gluten-free baking – as well as a touch of my life as a creative soul who loves to experiment with many different areas of craft and aesthetics.
I also hope to inspire You to find what You love to do, whatever it may be. Curiosity and the courage to experiment lead the way – without fear of perfection. It is more important to dare to try than to strive for flawlessness.

I’m so happy you’re here.

And hey! – Grab a cup of coffee and stay as long as you like. ♥
