This beautiful shawl captures the look and colors of grain fields at harvest time. Ripe ears of grain at the bottom edge remain beautifully visible at the front. The rest of the shawl alternates between wavy rows of uncut grain and plowed fields.
The shawl has a shallow triangular shape, and knitted from merino wool-silk yarn, it is exceptionally soft.

Finished shawl measurements without stretching or blocking: top edge width 170 cm, height at center front 45 cm
NEEDLES AND SUPPLIES:
3.5 mm circular needle, 100 cm
3.5 mm crochet hook
13 stitch markers
tapestry needle for grafting
GAUGE: 22 sts x 48 rows = 10 x 10 cm in garter stitch on 3.5 mm needles before washing or blocking
Yarn: Fingering weight wool or wool blend yarn.
YARN REQUIREMENTS:
Main color: 100 g or 400 m
Contrast color: 150 g or 600 m
Recommended yarn: Woolento Merino Silk 400 m/100 g (50% merino extra fine / 50% tussah silk)
The shawl begins with an I-cord cast-on, then worked flat back and forth.
An I-cord edge is worked simultaneously along the bottom, while the top I-cord edge is finished by picking up stitches.
The shawl’s texture is created with garter stitch, topped with surface crochet slip stitches and elongated stitches.
