Inspired by the long, slender pine trunks and their exposed roots growing on rugged sandy ridges, this cowl features two-tone brioche stitch that highlights the pattern while making the cowl airy and soft against the neck.

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS:
3 mm (US 2.5) – 60 cm circular needle or 80 cm circular needle for Magic Loop technique
8 stitch markers
tapestry needle for weaving in ends
GAUGE: 22 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm in 2-color brioche stitch on 3 mm needles before blocking
YARN: Sport weight wool or merino wool yarn.
YARDAGE:
Main color: 95 g or at least 290 m
Contrast color: 65 g or at least 190 m
Yarn recommendation: Wool Me Once Fibers Merino Sport 300 m/100g
The cowl is knitted top-down in the round.
First, a solid-colored brioche edge is worked, followed by two-tone brioche until the contrast color sections branch out into roots through increases.
A solid-colored edge is knitted at the hem and finished with the Italian bind-off technique.
